Torchwood: Children of Earth

So, I've finally caught up on Torchwood. And seeing as there is no one here to talk about it with, I figured I'd bring it to Gwen's journal! Also included, some speculation on what canon changes will be made to her RP here.

First and foremost, Torchwood needs to stop making me cry.

What an exhausting week for our pups, fellow players! Honestly, I don't know what to make of all of it quite yet. It was probably one of the most soul-shattered things I've ever seen on television, even if Gwen was lucky enough to make it through AND not lose the baby (believe me, I was pretty much expecting it from the moment we found out.).

Don't know what the heck they're thinking, killing off Ianto. And the ending? If there is a series 4, it's going to be interesting to see how/if they bring Gwen and Jack back together.

I'm sort of (again) stuck between a rock and a hard place canon-updating Gwen. Even with canon!pregnancy, I'm always feeling awkward writing babyfic. That, and who knows what it is? What they'll name him/her? If we'll ever even see Gwen and Rhys and baby again?

That, and it certainly isn't going to help me pull Gwen from this emo place she's been since Owen and Tosh died. If anything, things have got slightly worse for her, happy baby times or no, so it's kind of up in the air right now as to what I'll be doing about canon updating her journal.

In short, found the series to be horrifying, emotionally draining, slightly predictable in places, but all in all pretty darn good and riveting. And Lois Habiba for Team Torchwood, anyone? Gwen wants her on board, you can count on that.

What did you guys think, in terms of the episodes and how the events will effect your pups?

My friend plays both her Jack and Ianto, so we looked at each other and went "...yeah, see, that would not be a good place to put the character in!" So I think for now we're sort of winging this idea that Ianto almost died but didn't, and Paloma is hanging onto Jack tooth and nail at the moment. While going, "this is not my career."

I'd certainly love to have Gwen pop 'round, I don't have a specific idea for how, but Paloma needs female friends that aren't NPCs. Really! And Gwen needs a hug. (Although, as Kai Owen has so terribly grown on me, I am very happy that they didn't take the 'kill the less popular supporting character' route and off Rhys too.)

That sounds like a good plan to me! It's going to be weird keeping up with who canon updates and who goes AU, I imagine I'll be adding quite a few 'verses to Gwen's inventory, lol.

I would love for Gwen to hang out with Paloma and co.! She certainly needs a friend and another girl around, for sure, and a hug wouldn't hurt. I'd be totally happy to adjust her to whatever 'verse you're playing in, too! Gwen is rather flexible. XD (Oh, and I agree, Rhys has grown on me so much, so I was extremely thankful they didn't decide to do something stupid and go and off him. But with Ianto gone and Jack leaving, that would have destroyed Gwen forever.)

Paloma is currently in Six Word Stories lamenting the end of her honeymoon. *laughs* You can have Gwen jump in there if you like.

I've got three 'verses for her now, in which the only difference (that I know of) is who she's with, so you can pick and choose whichever (or all of the above, for all I care). Sometimes we don't know which one we're playing until we're halfway through a thread, so...yeah. In her Jack 'verse, she and the Captain just got randomly married, fun times.

Oh, in your OT3 verse you play with the only Rhys I've ever played with! &hearts Rhys is such a sought after commodity for Gwens I have learnt, lol. In short, I'm pretty much up for any of them! (Though I think the OT3 verse will leave Gwen blinking and giggling, generally.)

(Something Borrowed is such a great eppy for so many reasons. Rhys is such a hero. &hearts)

I don't remember whose idea that verse was but it was like "that would be funny. let's just mess with that." Surprisingly, we have managed not to giggle maniacally when writing it.

LMAO It's pretty fantastic. And oddly believable, actually. I could totally see Ianto being ok with bringing a third person into the relationship if he really loved her, too!

We sometimes have oddly messed up ideas. Like, the entire story of how Paloma came to be involved with Torchwood is based on an incident that happened during a game of Dungeons & Dragons...when I was ten. The places you get ideas from!

(She did. I hated her character in Ultraviolet, but I was still like "HEY. It's that girl! From the other show I loved! Okay, that's kinda fun.")

I'm still getting over the shock that I met John Barrowman yesterday. Met being a loose term, but he is pretty.

That's the best place to get ideas from! I love taking stuff I've experienced or come up with before and reforming it for RP or even original fiction. And it's always nice to know a good idea didn't go to waste!

(LOL That is pretty cool! I always love seeing random people from shows I loved pop up in my other fandoms!)

I AM SO JEALOUS. You're at ComicCon then??? I got to sort of meet him at a con back in 2005, and I still sort of swoon when I think about it... <3 He is soooo pretty.
