So, I've finally caught up on Torchwood. And seeing as there is no one here to talk about it with, I figured I'd bring it to Gwen's journal! Also included, some speculation on what canon changes will be made to her RP here.

First and foremost, Torchwood needs to stop making me cry.

What an exhausting week for our pups, fellow players! Honestly, I don't know what to make of all of it quite yet. It was probably one of the most soul-shattered things I've ever seen on television, even if Gwen was lucky enough to make it through AND not lose the baby (believe me, I was pretty much expecting it from the moment we found out.).

Don't know what the heck they're thinking, killing off Ianto. And the ending? If there is a series 4, it's going to be interesting to see how/if they bring Gwen and Jack back together.

I'm sort of (again) stuck between a rock and a hard place canon-updating Gwen. Even with canon!pregnancy, I'm always feeling awkward writing babyfic. That, and who knows what it is? What they'll name him/her? If we'll ever even see Gwen and Rhys and baby again?

That, and it certainly isn't going to help me pull Gwen from this emo place she's been since Owen and Tosh died. If anything, things have got slightly worse for her, happy baby times or no, so it's kind of up in the air right now as to what I'll be doing about canon updating her journal.

In short, found the series to be horrifying, emotionally draining, slightly predictable in places, but all in all pretty darn good and riveting. And Lois Habiba for Team Torchwood, anyone? Gwen wants her on board, you can count on that.

What did you guys think, in terms of the episodes and how the events will effect your pups?

Expect spoilers in comments.

Candy is the perfect name for a girl! Gwen obviously should name the thing that. And it would still be named after Ianto! Everyone's happy!

(Jack Sparrow got better, so I'm not sure that counts, but... Yeah, I've had both kinds. The ones that happened before you picked them up are a lot easier, and I'm not sure why.)

Ianto doesn't think naming the kid Candy counts as naming it after him, regardless of John's nicknames for him.

(I think it's because you know what you're getting into when you pick up an already dead character, but with this it's like. *alive* *dead* ...now what? :\ Or something like that.)

Oi, the two of you! Gwen says NO on Candy. Though, if it's a boy, Ianto is a possibility.

(And *hugs!* I am sure you will find something to do with him because you are splendid like that. Then of course there is always be the "let's pretend canon didn't happen" threads which are fun. And Ianto can haunt Gwen's French press.)

That's because Candy's a silly name and Ianto isn't. :|

(*hugs* I'm sure I will! I just feel so awkward about him right now. He can offer Gwen critique when she's making her morning coffee. Although he may change his mind about the French press when he realises how little Rhys wears first thing.)

Candy is a wonderful name for a girl, I've no idea what you're talking... ooh, I know! Joan for a girl. It's a pun.

Ianto is a nice, proper Welsh name. Gwen, of course, approves.

(You'll be fine hun! I am sure there is plenty still to do with him, and you know muns will ALWAYS be up for RPing with Ianto. He's so lovable! Gwen would rather not traumatize Ianto further with him having to see naked Rhys. Poor Ianto's been through enough.

Whereas Candy sounds like something from a bad American fifties film. You can see why Ianto's preferable.

(XD I know! I just keep having to remind myself of how much I want to play with Tosh and Owen's even after they died. Obviously Owen's not so loveable, but the point stands. Yes, exactly. He doesn't need to add seeing Gwen's husband naked to that list of traumas.)

Indeed. I think Gwen's more partial to a good Welsh name for a girl, too. Though don't expect me to have her pulling out any baby name books in prompts. Dammit, RTD, forcing me to write baby fic!

(Exactly! If anything, people want to play with them more because we know we won't be able to see them again in canon, so we realize how much we miss them when their gone. :-( Though considering they will have a baby around, Gwen is going to convince him to start wearing pajamas! Think of the children, Rhys.)

Awww, well, you don't have to write baby fic.

(I'm already starting to get back into the swing of things at games again, so I'm sure open!verse things will follow! And I think the next batch of novels has Ianto in still, so I'm holding out for them even though I probably won't like them much. ...Ianto may be able to tolerate haunting the French press if she can teach Rhys how to use pyjamas.)

Well, I will end up writing baby fic cos I'm a sucker and figure it's another fun way to torture Gwen. I mean, give her character development. Or something.

(Yay! When does the next wave of books come out on your side of the pond? I think we usually have a month lag before they get out here, but I keep checking Borders hoping they'll come out already. I hope Ianto has some good stuff in them. Though I still need to read SkyPoint. :-/ Gwen will totally teach him to wear PJs, then. She likes the idea of ghost!Ianto teaching her how to not ruin the coffee.)

Well, I will read it when you do. ♥

(...October, I think? I can't remember. Plus they tend to change around a bit before hand, anyway. I didn't really like any from the Sky Point batch. I have a not-so-secret soft spot for Pack Animals, but I still think all a lot of it is OOC bullshit. He'd teach her kid how to make it too. He thinks it would be a waste if no one else ever knew his coffee secrets.)

You are the best! &hearts

(I have a huge soft spot for Pack Animals. Mainly the amazing cover, lol. But it was good fun, even for the OOC. Though, the first lot is the only one I remember being any good. He could channel a book through them. Making Coffee From the Great Beyond with Ianto Jones.

(Yeah. The first lot were pretty OOC, but I remember really liking Another Life even with all the typos. The most recent two audio books are pretty good too, if you haven't heard those yet. In the Shadows, especially. Gwen could buy him a new French press to haunt with the profits.)

(I REALLY enjoyed Twilight Streets, though it did read like insane fanfic. That one was first wave, right? Or maybe it was second. At any rate, I just remember there were some hysterical quotes in it! And then she can pass the Haunted French Press down to generations and generations of Williams, and Ianto will live forever! &hearts )

(Twilight Streets was second wave! I didn't really like that, but most of the fandom seemed to enjoy that one. It was the one they'd sold most of when I went to get my copies from Waterstones, anyway. The idea of a haunted French press really shouldn't be that adorable, but it is. ♥)

(I think it was the quotableness of it... Or at least that bit about Ianto and ABBA. Though I didn't much care for Gwen and Ianto getting all snappy at each other. *pout* It kinda gives me happy squeeful feelings when I think about it. :-D

(...I totally meant to add that I loved the bit about Ianto and ABBA. Although, yes. It was ruined slightly by Ianto snapping at Gwen right after. Gwen hadn't even done anything deserve that! And, really, when Ianto starts sounding like I did at 13? There's something very wrong. Same! That's so going to be my head canon from now on.)

(It was pretty classic. I understand why Ianto got a little touchy since Gwen was being nosy but still... I'm all about the Gwen & Ianto BBFness, ya know? When they get snappy it makes me sad. :-( Best. Headcanon. Ever. I think we need to write fics.)

(I love Ianto and Gwen BFFness too, and I know Ianto can be a bit snappy sometimes but for some reason that rant just didn't sit well with me. :\ We do! I need to write that Chris and Andy fic first, though. And also catch up with prompts.)

(It didn't sit well with me either... She was being nosy but I remember thinking his response was a lot bitchier than Ianto is. I really wish there had been more BFF moments in canon. *sigh* Yeees, prompts... Plus I have a pregnant!Gwen fic eating away at my brain I'd better get out soon.)

(At least they had Gwen acknowledge it was unusual and gave it some sort of reasoning, but... it was just too bitchy. And so do I. The moments they did have were very cute though! You could combine pregnant!Gwen with prompts?)
